eLSI Sprint - 1

  • eLSI Sprints are time-boxed team engineering challenges designed for college students from e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI) colleges. The current edition eYantra Lab Sprint 1st Edition is a beginner-friendly robotics learning program running from June 1 to July 31, 2026. It introduces students to the fundamentals of robotics, simulation, autonomous navigation, and collaborative engineering. Rather than throwing participants into one large problem, the sprint breaks the challenge into smaller tasks with increasing difficulty. The core problem involves building a line-following robot in a simulator environment. Participants are supported throughout by mentors, making it accessible even to those with zero prior robotics experience.

  • Students from all academic years are welcome, and female participation is especially encouraged. The skills covered include robotics fundamentals, line-following algorithms, problem-solving, autonomous navigation logic, and engineering workflow. What sets this sprint apart is its structured, step-by-step progression combined with a competitive leaderboard format. All participants who complete the sprint receive a Certificate of Completion.

  • Top-performing teams also win e-Yantra goodies. Outstanding performers may be selected for a 2-month offline Summer Internship at IIT Bombay in 2027. Registration opens May 18, 2026 and closes June 15, 2026. Participation requires login through the eLSI portal and is exclusive to students and student coordinators from eLSI-registered colleges. The sprint is completely free to join. It is part of e-Yantra, a project sponsored by the Ministry of Education under NMEICT and hosted at IIT Bombay.
